How to stop pop-up ads by Videostay.club
Videostay.club is a website, so you can use an anti-malware program to block it. Some programs have real-time security – they scan your sites and block the suspicious ones from being shown by your web browser.
However, this isn’t necessary just to stop the Videostay.club ads. Because Videostay.club uses notifications, all that you need to do is open the notification settings in the browser that is being affected by Videostay.club pop-ups:
- Chrome – type “chrome://settings/content/notifications” in the address box.
- Safari – in the Safari menu, choose Preferences, Websites, Notifications.
- New Edge – type “edge://settings/content/notifications” in the address box.
- Firefox – open Settings, Preferences, Privacy & Security, scroll down to Permissions, and click on Settings next to Notifications.
Here you’ll all the sites that you have allowed to send notifications to your browsers, as well as sites that you have blocked from doing that. Don’t be surprised if there are some addresses that you don’t recognize or don’t remember adding. It’s very easy to allow or block notifications by accident.
Videostay.club should be on the list, too – and more than once. You may see addresses like “2.videostay.fun”, “4.videostay.site”, “0.videostay.uno”, and similar ones. All of them need to be blocked from sending any more notifications.
Next to each address, there’s a button. Pressing it brings up a little menu that offers you to Block or Deny the site. Press it and it won’t show new ads. You may still need to dismiss ads if any have accumulated, but that’s it.
Finally, scan your computer with an antivirus tool, like Spyhunter for Windows, Combo Cleaner for macOS, and others. Videostay.club promotes some potentially unwanted programs (and is promoted by them), so there’s a chance that some of them made it on your computer. It’s better to check now than to leave it for later.
How Videostay.club tricks people
Videostay.club’s ads start after this site tricks people into allowing them. It’s dishonest and predatory.
Videostay.club is a simple website that does three things:
- ask visitors to allow its notifications,
- send out notifications,
- redirect visitors to a promoted site.
The problem is the way that Videostay.club asks people to allow its notifications:
- “Click Allow to watch the video”,
- “Click on Allow to confirm that you are not a robot”,
- “Press Allow to continue”.
Videostay.club just asks each visitor to click on the Allow button while lying about what it does. Videostay.club shows a pop-up that asks you whether you wish to allow notifications, that’s where the Allow button shows up. Clicking on it enables Videostay.club to send ads into your browser.
Ads for Videostay.club may appear on “free” video streaming sites, file download sites, online converters for music and for videos. Links to it may be shared by malicious accounts in social media. Videostay.club can also be promoted by adware viruses.
How dangerous are the ads?
Besides tricking people into subscribing to its ads, another problem with Videostay.club is that some of the ads it shows are dangerous and harmful. Some are for related adware sites, like Watchstream.best, Moviestime.club, Promodayz.com, Anymorenews.com, etc. They show similar ads.
Videostay.club has some normal ads, but it often promotes the sort of content that’s been rejected from mainstream advertising networks. Fake giveaways that exist to steal your personal information. Shady health supplements and miracle cures. Infinite energy devices and other scams. Various get-rich-quick schemes. Products that may be harmful or dangerous.
Not to mention how distracting and intrusive the Videostay.club pop-up ads can be. They appear in your browser regardless of which site you’re on. And each of them needs to be dismissed separately. It can be incredibly frustrating, seeing the same ads again and again on your screen. But that’s adware for you.
