Why YouTube Subscribers Generator App is a scam
YouTube Subscribers Generator App does not work
When looking for free Youtube subscribers, one of the first Google search results is the YouTube Subscribers Generator App – a browser extension that opens the website Pointszone.net/v2/apps/youtubetools. It offers free YouTube subscribers, likes, views, comments, and favorites.
This website is a fake giveaway scam. It’s an advertising scheme similar to Fortnite VBucks generators and Cash App hacks. It does not work.
The generator app on Pointszone.net is a simple web page. It asks you to type in your channel name and then pretends to perform a bunch of complicated techy hack stuff and inject your channel with new subscribers. The only problem is, it needs “Human Verification” – that is, for you to do a bunch of tasks:
- complete surveys on clickbait sites,
- download and install mobile apps,
- subscribe to paid services,
- sign up for websites with your personal details.
And does it work? No, it doesn’t. One of the easiest ways to check is by using a fake channel address. The Subscribers Generator App claims to generate views, likes, and subscribers for my nonexistent channel.
It might cause security problems
The YouTube Subscribers Generator App extension itself does not appear to be malicious. All it does is open the Pointszone.net/v2/apps/youtubetools website.
But the tasks that this scam asks you to complete are potentially dangerous.
First, if you do a survey, it’s likely on a clickbait site full of shady and even harmful ads. These ads promote miracle cures and counterfeit electronics, misinformation-filled sites promoting various scams, browser hijackers, fake PC optimizers, etc.
Then there are the subscription services that each cost a few dollars a week (Mobile premium services). The same goes for the apps that the YouTube Subscribers Generator App might ask you to install (Hundreds of fleeceware apps earn dubious iOS, Android developers over $400 million).
By the way, Pointszone.net appears to host a bunch of other scams, such as Instagram follower app, WhatsApp spy, Facebook account hack, and Paypal money adder. It’s best to stay away from this website.
How to avoid the YouTube Subscribers Generator App scam
Don’t use free subscriber generators
YouTube Subscribers Generator App is fake and so are all other miracle subscriber generators. But even if they did work, there are two problems there:
- it’s against YouTubeb’s Terms of Service – you could compromise your channel,
- having subscribers who don’t watch your videos is bad for your channel’s health.
Remove unwanted apps and subscriptions
Uninstall the extension YouTube Subscribers Generator App from your browser. It doesn’t do anything other than open a scam website, but you never know when the extension might be updated to include more malicious functionality.
If you did any of the “Human Verification” tasks that the YouTube Subscribers Generator App asked of you, such as install an app, then it’s important to check your device. Uninstall unwanted apps and browser add-ons, then scan your device with an anti-malware tool, such as Combo Cleaner for macOS, Spyhunter for Windows, Malwarebytes, etc.
In addition, check your active subscriptions. Check your mobile service provider, as well as your purchases and subscriptions on the app stores. Don’t let criminals siphon your money.
